The Rehabilitation of Sarnia Road
The bridge rehabilitation work on the Sarnia Road Bridge (B112) comprised of:
(i) Investigatory work consisting of material sample extraction, testing, and reporting to the engineer.
(ii) Repair of fire damaged concrete on soffit, sides of deck and columns. Two repair methods namely: proprietary cementitious repair compound and sprayed for the repair of the fire damaged concrete.
(iii) Repair of corrosion spalling damage to ends of deck cantilever and parapets.
(iv) Removal of the existing pedestrian handrails and replacement with new precast concrete handrails.
(v) Replacing the existing joints with Claw type joints
(vi) Coating the concrete surfaces of sides of bridge deck and substructure
(vii) Demolition and replacement of 850mm high barrier
(viii) Sundry minor work including crack sealing, replacement of damaged sidewalk covers and localised waterproofing
The additional works included landscaping, road rehabilitation work comprising of milling and replacing and road markings, construction of a gabion wall and fencing within the SANRAL Road Reserve.
