- Targeted Enterprises – The project supports over 70 targeted enterprises, ranging from CIDB Grades 1 to 5, ensuring small and emerging contractors play a significant role. These enterprises are projected to benefit from a targeted spend exceeding R150 million, fostering sustainable growth in Kokstad and surrounding areas.
- Contract Skills Development Goals (CSDG) – Of the 0.25% target for CSDG, nearly 90% has been accomplished as the project nears completion. These efforts significantly contribute to the development of TVET/FET students, university students, and candidates pursuing professional registration.
- Construction Ingenuity – The project incorporates innovative materials and engineering solutions to ensure long-lasting, high-quality infrastructure:
- Bitumen Treated Base (BTB): A resilient, flexible base layer offering excellent load distribution and water resistance.
- Bitumen Rubber Gap-Graded Asphalt (BRAGG): A premium wearing course providing superior flexibility, crack resistance, and noise reduction.
- Exceeding Key Targets – The project has successfully reached and exceeded targets for military veterans and differently abled individuals, further promoting inclusivity and economic participation for underrepresented groups.
- Planned Job Creation – As the project approaches completion, 50 additional jobs are expected. These efforts align with SANRAL’s Community Participation Goals (CPG), Community Development, and Contract Skills Development Goals (CSDG) targets.Awards
