National Certificate Construction Roadworks

SAQA ID 24133 : NQF LEVEL 2 – MINIMUM 120 CREDITS

This unit standards based qualification will give learners an opportunity to conduct the essential operations associated with efficient and safe construction work in at least one of the construction areas of roadworks, structures, drainage and services and to balance their practical skills with essential knowledge (theory and practical) needed to earn a formal qualification.

Exit level outcomes will be judged by the following criteria:

• The ability to read, understand and communicate technical information, specifications and drawings in a road construction environment
• The ability to execute basic calculations required in a Road Construction environment
• The ability to execute specific Road Construction activities in a cost effective and safe manner
• The ability to perform Team Leader functions when elective unit standards are chosen

The practical component of the qualification will be offered in a real workplace environment . It will give learners the experience and exposure to the challenges and demands of the construction industry.
